App Instructions

Chops for iPad has 4 modes: Play, Edit, New, and Tuner. Switch to any of these modes by clicking on the “Play”, “Edit”, “New” or “Tune” buttons in the console. The “Key” and “Tempo” knobs are used to change key and tempo. Click on any of the style buttons to change to another style (“Swing”, “Bossa”, etc.). Use the “Play” and “Stop” buttons to control audio playback. Knobs and buttons (except for the “Stop” button are disabled during playback.

To select a song: In Play mode, click the “Songs” button, this will bring up the Song Selector

Double-click on the song title you would like to play over to select it. You can delete a song title here by single-clicking on the title and hitting the Backspace or Delete key on your keyboard. After you select a song title, the chord changes will be displayed on screen.

Edit mode lets you change the root, chord type and tension for each chord. Use the shortcut buttons to enter chords faster. The “Paste->” button copies the currently selected chord and pastes it to the next beat. The “Paste->->” button pastes the selected chord to the next 3 beats.

To create a new song, switch to “New” mode. Here you will enter a new song title, select the number of measures for the song, and then click the “Go” button.

When you click the “Go” button your new song’s chord chart will be displayed using default chords. You will be in edit mode. Click on each chord to change its root, chord type, and tension. Changes are automatically saved, and your new song can be retrieved from the list of song titles found in the Song Selector in Play mode.

To make sure your instrument is in tune with the app, switch to “Tuner” mode, and select a tuning note. Click the “Mute” button to stop tuning.
